Rio Tinto

Rio Tinto is a leading international mining group. We find, mine, process and supply the minerals and metals that make modern life work.

We operate in more than 50 countries and employ more than 65,000 people globally. Major products are aluminium, copper, diamonds, energy (coal and uranium), gold, industrial minerals (borax, titanium dioxide, salt, talc) and iron ore.

Our graduate program aims to develop future leaders in both management and technical streams by providing a range of experiences in addition to formal learning and development. With operations around the world, we can offer talented people the opportunity to pursue challenging and diverse careers.

Starting your career
As a Rio Tinto graduate you will have a real job from day one. You’ll be part of a structured graduate development program for two years which will hone both your technical and commercial skills.

There is scope to move around, and there will be opportunities to undertake a development placement  with a different commodity group (subject to performance). You will get to work with one of the largest mining companies in the world, in an industry which supports the development of societies all around the globe.

Your ongoing professional development
We want Rio Tinto graduates to develop their technical capabilities in a way that supports them to become fully functioning professionals. We also support graduates to gain accreditation through their professional institutes and associations.

Our focus extends beyond technical competence to the development of core business skills and acumen, and we support our graduates to develop these skills throughout their program. Our top performing graduates will be considered for our international placement program, Accelerate, and get the opportunity to work overseas.

Benefits
We offer competitive benefits, including performance related pay, subsidised medical schemes, superannuation, company share schemes and employee assistance programs.

Our culture — the way we work
At Rio Tinto we have a strong commitment to safety, health, environment and the communities in which we operate.

In practice this means securing the future of the environments in which we mine and the economic and social wellbeing of the communities in which we work.
