DAFF Graduates
We are seeking graduates who will bring a broad range of skills to the portfolio, and  the drive and commitment to make a difference to the economic and environmental wellbeing of rural and regional Australia.

To support its graduates, DAFF provides assistance with the costs of relocation, a professional programme of competency-based training and development (leading to a postgraduate qualification and possible points towards an MBA) and three diverse and challenging workplace rotations.

Graduate Development Programme
The Graduate Development Programme is delivered over an eleven month period and is aimed at equipping you with the skills and knowledge that will assist you with a career in the department.

DAFF is committed to providing challenging opportunities through workplace rotations, formal training and ongoing development. This will foster leadership and team skills, and provide experience in developing and implementing public policy and dealing with the Department’s clients and key stakeholders.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a vocational Diploma of Government (APS) and automatically move to a higher job classification and salary. Your opportunity to further develop your skills and expertise does not end when you complete the Graduate Development Programme. The department will continue to provide opportunities to acquire further skills and knowledge for current and future roles.

Degree Disciplines
The department is responsible for a broad range of diverse activities and recruits from ALL ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES. These include but are not limited to: economics, agricultural economics, veterinary science, law, statistics/econometrics, marketing, commerce, business management, resource management, arts, science, agriculture, communications, plant science, animal science, entomology, rural studies, food technology, social science and accounting.
