Working as an accountant at DEEWR
If you have strong numerical, research and analytical skills and like to work as part of a team then the DEEWR accounting stream is for you.
Work as an accountant in DEEWR is varied, and is pivotal to the department’s capacity to deliver on the Government’s reform agenda. As an accountant in DEEWR you may be required to produce internal and external reports, review departmental activities, prepare financial statements, internal budgeting, costing Government decisions and assist with treasury management.
To be eligible to apply you must have completed or be due to complete an undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, commerce, business or business administration (with accounting or finance major).
Working in economics and applied statistics Stream at DEEWR
DEEWR is a leader in the provision of public policy advice, economic and labour market analysis and social research. You’ll work with experienced economists, econometricians and applied statisticians, and use data from real life situations to apply your technical expertise and learn new skills.
Specialists within the department are responsible for a wide range of research. This includes: micro and macro economic analyses, the interaction between the industrial and social safety net; and the use of robust statistical techniques to analyse the effectiveness of Government initiatives.
To be eligible to apply, you will need to be a graduate of economics, applied statistics, econometrics or finance, with demonstrated skills in conceptual, applied and analytic thought, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working in the social policy analyst stream at DEEWR
DEEWR’s Social Policy Analyst stream provides opportunities to work on whole of portfolio and cross sectional policy formulation. As a Social Policy Analyst you will be given the opportunity to conduct specialist research and analysis in whole of Government matters including national and international comparisons, productivity, skills formulation, workforce shortage, student participation, transition from education to work and income support programs for students.
To be eligible to apply, you must have completed or be due to complete an undergraduate degree by the end of the 2009 academic year.
